Spend Less Time Setting Up EVE-NG. Spend More Time Practicing ENCOR.

Instead of spending your study time hunting for images, building topologies, and troubleshooting your lab before you can even practice, start with the OVA, images, labs, and workbook already prepared for you.

EVE-NG OVA

Import the virtual machine and start with an environment prepared for hands-on ENCOR practice.

All Required Images

Get the network images required for the included labs, so you are not left searching for missing files before you can start.

ENCOR Workbook

Follow practical lab tasks that tell you what to configure, verify, and troubleshoot.

Blank Labs

Open the topology without the completed configuration and work through the scenario yourself.

Save Config Labs

Compare your work against completed configurations, verify your results, and see what you may have missed.
Here’s Exactly How You’ll Use The Starter Kit
From downloading the OVA to working through your first ENCOR lab, everything follows one simple path.

STEP 1

Import The OVA

Start by importing the ready-to-use EVE-NG OVA. The environment and required network images are already there, so instead of spending your study time hunting down files and putting the lab together, you can get EVE-NG running and move straight to the part you came for.

STEP 2

Open The Blank Lab

Next, open one of the Blank Labs. You’ll see the topology, but the configuration work is still yours to do. Nothing has been completed for you, which means you’re not just watching somebody else configure ENCOR. You’re sitting at the CLI and doing it yourself.

STEP 3

Let The Workbook Take You Through The Lab

Now open the ENCOR Workbook and work through the scenario step by step. It tells you what needs to be configured, what to verify, what outputs to check, and where troubleshooting comes into the exercise. Instead of wondering what to practice next, you have a clear path through the lab while the actual configuration still stays in your hands.

STEP 4

Compare Your Work With The Save Config

When you’re finished, open the Save Config version and compare it with what you built. You’ll immediately see what you got right, what you missed, and where your configuration went off track. Then you can go back to the Blank Lab, correct it, and run through the scenario again until the process starts feeling familiar.

A NOTE FROM ALI
Hi! I am Ali...

I’ve spent more than 25 years building, operating, troubleshooting, and teaching networks. And somewhere along the way, I started noticing the same problem over and over again.

Most engineers don’t suffer from a lack of information. There are more books, videos, documentation, and study resources available today than any of us could possibly finish.

The real problem usually appears when you close all of that, open the CLI, and have to do the work yourself.

A technology that made perfect sense five minutes ago suddenly feels different when nobody is telling you what command comes next. You have to decide what to configure, how to verify it, what the output should look like, and where to start looking when something doesn’t work.

That’s why I became such a believer in becoming a Lab-First Engineer.

And it’s why I built this Starter Kit the way I did.

You get the EVE-NG environment, the topology, the required images, a Blank Lab, and a Workbook that takes you through the scenario step by step. But the actual work is still yours. You configure the devices, verify the results, troubleshoot what goes wrong, and then compare your work with the Save Config to see what you got right and what you missed.

That’s the kind of practice I wish every network engineer did more of.

And this free Starter Kit is a simple place to begin.
